Praça Mauá marks the beginning of Avenida Rio Branco avenue and also of the Port Region. From 1910 on, with the inauguration of Porto do Rio (“Rio’s Port”), began an important place to welcome ships that brought products and tourists to the city. Around the square there are important buildings, such as the Rio Art Museum (MAR) and the Museum of Tomorrow, as well as the A Noite building, the first skyscraper of the city, built in 1930. The "Museu do Amanhã" (Museum of Tomorrow) explore possibilities to construct the future. Located at Porto Maravilha and projected by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava side by side with Guanabara's Bay, the museum structure is already a part of the new postal card of Rio. Founded in 1808 by Dom João VI, the Botanic Garden is an important tourist spot in the city and widely visited by researchers who study the hundreds of species that inhabit it. Featuring rare collections of bromeliads and orchids, as well as centuries old trees and exotic plants, it contains works from the early 16th century, retaining a rich historical and cultural heritage. The park is a great place for rest, picnics and bird watching, as it has over one hundred different species in the crowns and trunks of their trees. Inside the Botanical Garden you will also find the Museu do Meio Ambiente (Environment Museum) and 'Tom Jobim Space' the host concerts, exhibitions, and important cultural events from the city.

Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel & Resort was voted by The Telegraph one of the 10 best luxury hotels to stay in Rio de Janeiro. In the survey carried by that media specialists were considered the following aspects: restaurants, bars, leisure area, view and service, in the neighborhoods Copacabana, Ipanema, Barra, Santa Teresa and Leblon. The review emphasizes the location of the resort, the only one in the city with direct access to the beach. In addition to that, the decoration of the complex that was totally renewed a year ago, an investment of more than $ 55 million dollars, providing sophistication in all four restaurants and three bars and preserved the landscaped leisure area made by Burle Marx. The entire hotel overlooks the sea and the stunning beaches of Leblon and Ipanema. The largest hotel leisure area in the city also has shades of palm trees that confer, according to The Telegraph review "a genuine rustic tropical charm, so that despite being in the heart of the city, you feel at a Bahian hideaway”.
