Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in central Greece. It is known for its stunning rock formations that are topped with monasteries that were built in the Middle Ages. The monasteries of Meteora were built in the 14th and 15th centuries by monks who were seeking refuge from invading Turkish armies. At one time there were more than 20 monasteries, but today only six remain. t there. The main attraction in Meteora is the monasteries themselves, which are perched on top of the rock formations. Visitors can climb up to the monasteries via stairs that have been carved into the rock, and explore the chapels, libraries, and other rooms. The best time for a visit is in the spring or fall, when the weather is mild and there are fewer tourists. Visitors can also explore the nearby towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki, which are known for their traditional architecture and delicious food.

Chalkidiki is also known for its cuisine, which features fresh seafood, grilled meats, and traditional dishes made with local ingredients.
