1997 年，金枝劇院的成員發現了一個驚人的發現。在那裡，在台北市中心的深處，並從所有遊客那裡被關閉，站在一個廢棄的工廠。該小組將工廠描述為一個城市中的一座城市，這是一個將自然與混凝土一起老化近十年的地方... 他們很感興趣。 雖然年輕的神話家當時不知道，但他們偶然發現了台灣最古老，保存最完好的建築物之一。該工廠始建於 1914 年，是台灣 1920 年代最大的葡萄酒生產商之一，但早已廢棄。 這個無恥的團體「恢復」了工廠的一小部分，並開始在廢棄的大廳裡舉辦戲劇。他們的實驗性表演和有趣的場地選擇，很快就引起了當地社區的注意... 不幸的是，它也引起了當地執法部門的關注，該團體及時被引用為侵入行為。然而，這種過度熱情的小行為僅僅是開始。 當地藝術家被開放空間、高高的天花板和充足的自然光線所吸引。不久之後，來自台北各地的藝術和文學巨人開始使用工廠作為鼓舞人心的工作空間，表演並在建築物本身上留下獨特的印記。 關於這個獨特的環境進一步傳播，1999 年成立了非營利性非政府組織文化環境改革協會，監督工廠恢復成為一個成熟的藝術中心。工廠更名為華山創意園區，2005 年正式重建創意園區。 2007 年台灣文化創意發展有限公司有限公司承擔園區翻新及運營的責任，並將其更名為華山 1914。自那以後，一個有機的創意環境一直在增長。華山 1914 現在是台北的主要創意藝術中心，也是台灣最重要的文化活動的主辦場所。例子包括簡單生活音樂節和 BiBo 學生設計博覽會。如今華山 1914 不僅是台灣創作脈動的核心，更是通往獨特建築過去的橋樑。
