SO/ Paris hotel is set on the banks of the Seine in the heart of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, between the ultra-chic Marais and Bastille districts, right across the river from the Arab World Institute and the dynamic Left Bank. Ideally situated less than a kilometre from Notre-Dame cathedrale, we are truly in the middle of Paris. Metro Lines -Sully-Morland metro station (line 7): 150 metres. -Place de la Bastille (metro lines 1, 5 and 8): 700 metres. Bus routes -Bus routes 67, 72, 86 and 87 take you to all four corners of Paris. Train stations -Gare de Lyon train station is 14 minutes on foot with a rolling suitcase. Airports: -By plane, Paris-Orly is at 18km and Paris-CDG is only 30km away.

The first digging work started on the 26th January 1887. On the 31st March 1889, the Tower had been finished in record time – 2 years, 2 months and 5 days – and was established as a veritable technical feat.

History of the monument A unique viewpoint. From the top of the panoramic terrace, your eyes sweep over the whole of Paris.   The revisited Antiquity. Architect Jean-François Chalgrin was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus in a single arch, but went beyond it by exceptional dimensions (about 50 m high, 45 m long and 22 m wide) and abandoning columns.    A key place of major national events. Wanted by Napoleon in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by French king, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. The Unknown Soldier was buried at the base of the arch in 1921. The flame of remembrance is rekindled every day at 18:30.
