Capital Brewery was founded in 1984, and brewed their first batch of beer, a pilsner, in the spring of 1986 and was founded to brew traditional German style lager beer in America. It has branched out to include American style ales, barrel aged beers, and several distinct IPA’s. Capital Amber (the largest seller) has been available in cans since 1999.
The Capital Brewery Bier Garten is open April through October and often hosts live music as well as numerous public and private events. It is known as ‘Middleton’s Backyard’ and typically attracts over 1500 patrons on Fridays, May through September. A Beer Patio was added in 2016 along Terrace Ave.
The indoor Bier Stube and Grain Room are open during the winter months (approximately November – April) and is also available for private events. Tours of the facility may be scheduled on its website.

The Walter R. Bauman Aquatic Center is an outdoor facility, featuring the latest in aquatic amenities. The facility includes zero-depth pool entrance, an eight lane competition pool, as well as a diving well. Other attractions at the center include two 134-foot run waterslides, interactive water play equipment, sand playground, and a concession area. The center has 11,510 square feet of water surface, holds 345,580 gallons of water, and has a patron capacity of 724 people. The Aquatic Center opens the second weekend in June and closes the last weekend in August.

In August of 2016, chef Laurel Burleson launched the Ugly Apple Food Cart. She has been cooking in professional kitchens since high school and has a degree in hospitality management. After cooking for several years around Chicago and Madison, she saw how much was going to waste of this fantastic Midwestern produce. She envisioned owning a cafe that focused on delicious local produce.
Hence, the Ugly Apple was born.
Like the story of the Ugly Duckling, the Ugly Apple might not be bought at market but can still make a beautiful fritter.
