RMSC has 200 interactive exhibits and activities that will capture every member of the family. Climb a wall. Build a tower. Power a robot. Explore lasers. See the only exhibit on Frederick Douglass in New York State. Kids can create their own TV weather report! Take a break in the light-filled Mario's Café in the Museum (healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free selections are available, along with a kids menu).
Seneca Park Zoo is a 15.5-acre (6.3 ha) zoo located in Rochester, New York. The zoo is home to over 90 species including mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fish, and arachnids. It is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The zoo is operated by Monroe County with support from the Seneca Park Zoo Society. The zoo opened in 1894 in Seneca Park.
School and group tours are available by appointment. We welcome motorcoach and AAA groups for an afternoon in the Gallery as well. Ample bus parking and drop off points are available. There are public restrooms. Open seven days a week, our Sculpture Park offers an area to sit and enjoy the public art, a chance to people watch or a box lunch.
Genesee Country Village & Museum features costumed interpreters in restored historic buildings, breathing life into an authentic 19th-Century Country Village. Since its opening in 1922, the Eastman Theatre has always been Rochester’s preeminent performance space. The magnificent theatre, which originally contained 3,352 seats, was built by George Eastman as a center for music, dance, and silent film with orchestral and organ accompaniment. An architectural gem, its opulent décor reflects the taste and elegance of the 1920s. Today, it is the primary concert hall for the Eastman School’s larger ensembles, including its orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles, and chorale. The Eastman Opera Theater presents fully staged operatic productions in the Theater each spring. It also is the principal hall for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and is used periodically throughout the year by a variety of community organizations for concerts, lectures, and other special events.

George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film combines the world’s leading collections of photography and film with the stately pleasures of the landmark Colonial Revival mansion and gardens that George Eastman called home from 1905 to 1932. The Museum is a National Historic Landmark. Mr. Eastman, the founder of Eastman Kodak Company, is heralded as the father of modern photography and the inventor of motion picture film.
A visit to The Strong museum is not complete without a stop at Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden, the only year-round indoor butterfly garden in upstate New York.
Enter a lush rain-forest environment and walk among approximately 1,000 brilliantly colored, free-flying tropical and native butterflies that flutter about (and may even land on you!). Be sure to visit the chrysalis case and see emerging butterflies.
A paved path leads guests through tropical foliage, a turtle pond, and a cascading waterfall. Look closely and you will also notice several four-footed and fine-feathered friends, including Socrates, the garden's brightly plumaged green aracari toucan, and families of Button Quail.
The butterfly population is funded in perpetuity through the generous support of Louise Woerner and Don Kollmorgen. The plants in Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden were made possible by Allyn’s Creek Garden Club.
Strasenburgh Planetarium, where the worlds of science and theater come together in computer-animated star shows. The Strasenburgh is one of only seven planetariums to have a Zeiss star projector of its size. Watch large-format movies on the planetarium's huge dome. Outside the building, a 12.5-inch diameter telescope lets the public probe night skies on Saturdays (weather permitting) from April through October.
National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House imparts the message that fearless tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds pays off. And the younger set may be amazed to hear they are standing in a room where a woman was once arrested for the "crime" of voting!
