The Essex Resort & Spa, is set on 18 acres of Vermont countryside, nestled between beautiful Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. The 120 inviting guest rooms are designed with a contemporary country appeal, and many include fireplaces, kitchenettes, and whirlpool tubs. The Essex is located just 15 minutes from Burlington’s International Airport and 5 minutes from the Amtrak station, and shuttle service is available. Recognized around the world for its outstanding culinary offerings, The Essex features two award-winning restaurants onsite. Amuse offers sophisticated dining in a casual setting, and The Tavern offers a wide array of pub fare plus a ‘steakhouse’ section featuring grass-fed, dry-aged beef. Both restaurants are proud to feature locally-sourced ingredients, including many from the on-site gardens. Spa at The Essex is the ultimate recipe for relaxation, including 10 treatment rooms, a 25-yard indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, fitness center, full-service hair and nail salon, and locker rooms with steam rooms, saunas, and relaxation areas. While visiting The Essex Resort & Spa, you may want take advantage of the unique culinary offerings in two hands-on ‘teaching’ kitchens. Our company was founded in 2008 by Alana Hoye Barnaba. Originally from upstate New York, Alana moved to New York City and immediately began her love affair with its food, history, and culture. For years before creating her company, Alana tried every type of food the city had to offer and began specializing in the tastes of ethnic neighborhoods. Some of her first experiences with the city’s culinary adventures were fresh dumplings and homemade mozzarella — foods included on the signature tour today. Soon after, Alana started Ahoy New York Tours & Tasting and has been sharing her love for the passion, culture, and history of the city through food tours of New York neighborhoods.
Ahoy New York Tours and Tasting’s goal with each tour is for customers to leave not only with the knowledge of the area and full of delicious food but also an experience to tell friends and family about long after the tour is complete
