The Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel provides stunning views of the Elizabeth River from all guest rooms. Or step out; our Navigator is knowledgeable about local restaurants, museums and must see sites, ensuring your stay is a true Renaissance experience. Our 24,335 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space, is situated amongst 25 meeting rooms and an outdoor, waterfront terrace. The Portsmouth Ballroom offers 12,000 square feet of space divisible into eight smaller rooms. An outdoor terrace adjacent to the ballroom accommodates 200 for receptions. The second floor also features the elegant Commodore Room and the Admiral Ballroom, offering dramatic 240 degree views and access to the terrace. The Executive Learning Center contains the Grand Ballroom and Case Study Amphitheater, with ergonomic seating for 75, individual data ports and the latest audiovisual capabilities. Five large breakout rooms offer a variety of space. Discover R.E.N. Meetings R is for Renaissance Sensory Meetings. E is for Entertainment with RLife LIVE. N is for Navigator. Portsmouth’s challenging Bide-A-Wee Golf Course was a vision conceived by PGA Professional and Virginia Sports Hall of Famer, Chandler Harper in the early 1950’s. After playing in the Ryder Cup matches of 1955, Mr. Harper retired from competitive golf and hired Fred Findlay to build the new Portsmouth course. The name originated from a conversation Mr. Harper and Findlay had about potential names for the new course. Mr. Findlay said “when I was a boy in Scotland, I started to run away from home. My Mother advised “you had better bide-a-wee.” To a Scot, that meant “stay a little longer or linger awhile.”

HRT operates three 150-passenger ferries on the Elizabeth River between Norfolk and Portsmouth. They travel between North Landing and High Street in Portsmouth and the Waterside District in downtown Norfolk. They’re fast, economical and offer a unique view of the river and the waterfront. Ferries operate every 30 minutes with 15-minute service during the summer at peak times on weekends. Schedules are subject to change based on operating situations (weather, mechanical problems, etc.). The ferry is wheelchair accessible and allows boarding passengers to walk on with their bicycles.
