The Largo is an architectural complex in the center of the city, consisting ot three edifeces, built in Socialism style. The construction began in the 1950s in an area heavily damaged by bombs during WWII. The ruins of the ancient Thracian and Roman city called Serdika are presented in the underpass between the Presidency and the Council of Ministers buildings. The eastern gate of the fortress had been renovated and exposed within the period 1997 - 1999.

The 40 metre high façade, is fronted by a large pediment, supported on six white marble columns, depicting Apollo and the muses. The twin towers that rise up behind are crowned with sculptures of the goddess Nike.The interior was destroyed by fire in 1923, and restored again six years later.
