Housing one of the largest collections of its kind ever assembled, Henry Ford Museum showcases the people and ideas that have fired our imaginations and changed our lives. At the site where automobile manufacturing as we know it came of age — and continues to define the state-of-the-art today — the Ford Rouge Factory Tour is a firsthand journey into the genius of American manufacturing. Behind the scenes, the Benson Ford Research Center uses the one-of-a-kind artifacts and resources of The Henry Ford to deepen our understanding of American people, places and things. And on the bigger-than-big screen, The Henry Ford IMAX Theater presents current releases, cinema classics and feature-length documentaries that showcase American popular culture and the American experience in superb, sense-surrounding detail. You may have seen the Fox Theatre Detroit in the latest Chrysler commercial during the Super Bowl featuring Eiminem and the Chrysler 200. But the Fox Theatre has been around for years. The Detroit Fox is one of five spectacular Fox Theatres built in the late 1920s by film pioneer William Fox. (The others were the Fox Theatres in Brooklyn, Atlanta, St. Louis, and San Francisco.) It was designed by architect C. Howard Crane with a lavish interior featuring a blend of Burmese, Chinese, Indian and Persian motifs. There are three levels of seating, the Main Floor above the orchestra pit, the Mezzanine, and the Gallery (balcony). The exterior of the attached 10-story office building features a facade with Asian motifs which, when illuminated at night, can be seen for several blocks. The Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri is (on the interior) its architectural "near" twin with about 500 fewer seats. The Detroit Fox is part of the Fox Building, while the St. Louis Fox is a stand-alone theatre. The architectural plaster molds of the slightly older (1928) Detroit Fox were re-used on the later (1929) St. Louis Fox. In April of 2000, The Detroit News produced a commemorative section on the Detroit Tigers' first game at their new home, Comerica Park. A quote from the headlining story read as follows: "Comerica Park is expected to make the Detroit Tigers part of baseball's nouveau riche..." Those who have visited the ballpark agree with the expectations. A carousel. A ferris wheel. A mammoth water feature in center field that can be choreographed to any music. a decade-by-decade pedestrian museum enveloping the main concourse. But wait, there is also a field with a game being played as well. These are but a few examples of what Comerica Park introduced to fans visiting downtown Detroit in the summer of 2000. Groundbreaking for the $300 million project took place on October 29, 1997. More than 60 percent of the financing is private, with the rest contributed from public sources. In the time since groundbreaking, the design has continued to evolve. The resulting goal realized is a combination of a classic design for the seating area with amusement and entertainment features that are unique to Comerica Park. Tigers owner Mike Ilitch played a direct role in designing the facility and brought years of family entertainment experience to the process. "If the fans feel the pride that this is their park, and a pride of ownership, then we've accomplished what we set out to do," said Ilitch.

The DIA has been a beacon of culture for the Detroit area for well over a century. Founded in 1885, the museum was originally located on Jefferson Avenue, but, due to its rapidly expanding collection, moved to a larger site on Woodward Avenue in 1927. The new Beaux-Arts building, designed by Paul Cret, was immediately referred to as the "temple of art." Two wings were added in the 1960s and 1970s, and a major renovation and expansion that began in 1999 was completed in 2007. The DIA's collection is among the top six in the United States. The museum covers 658,000 square feet that includes more than 100 galleries, a 1,150-seat auditorium, a 380-seat lecture/recital hall, an art reference library, and a state-of-the-art conservation services laboratory.
