The Fortezza da Basso, a short distance from the Central Railway Station of Santa Maria Novella, is one of the city's most important monuments from the Medici era. It was designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger in the first half of the 1500s on commission from Alessandro de' Medici. The complex extends over an area of almost 100,000 square metres (55,000 indoor); the number and variety of its rooms and spaces make it an ideal setting for the conferences and trade fairs.

Designed by the Architect Pierluigi Spadolini and inaugurated in 1974, the Palazzo degli Affari (business center ) is a modern building combining contemporary art and sophisticated technology. This versatile, multipurpose facility, over 4,000 square meters, has an overall capacity of 1,800. It is suitable for conferences, exhibitions, poster sessions, press conferences and fashion shows, as well as business luncheons and gala dinners. The top floor offers a splendid 360° panorama over the vast park and the city of Florence. The park links Palazzo degli Affari with the nearby Palazzo dei Congressi and it's a pleasant spot for conference participants to relax during breaks under its centuries-old trees. On the ground floor (Piazza Adua ) , from May 2007, we realized the New Reception of the Palazzo dei Congressi and Palazzo degli Affari, 200 sqm to welcome guests and delegates joining conferences in the Florentine venues and as welcome area with "Information display network" showing with four plasma monitors.

The Palazzo dei Congressi (conference center) is hosted in a 19th century villa, Villa Vittoria. The villa was built by the Strozzi family and it is located a few steps away from the historical center of the city. The building is surrounded by a park and it has a large auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000.
