The Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center rests on a 35-acre complex located near the Embassy Suites Colorado Springs Hotel downtown Colorado Springs. The center has sport venues and support facilities for fencing, gymnastics, judo, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling. Athletes are selected to train at the CSOTC by their respective National Governing Body. In October 1996 and April 1997, the USOC officially dedicated and opened its new $23.8 million Phase II facilities, which include a state-of-the-art sports medicine and sport science center and an athlete center featuring a dining hall and two residence halls. The USOC is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time on the complex. Make sure you take time to visit the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs during your stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs.

Due to Air Force-wide restructuring, the 2nd SW was inactivated, and the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing re-designated as the 50th SW activated at Falcon AFB on Jan. 30, 1992. Schriever, who pioneered the development of the nation's ballistic missile programs and is recognized as "the father of the U.S. Air Force's space and missile program." Gen. Schriever passed away June 20, 2005.
