Calgary's new Central Library opened in November 2018 and has quickly captured the hearts of Calgarians and their visitors. The building goes well beyond just a library, featuring free recording and production studios for audio and video projects, a performance hall, 30 meetings rooms that can be booked for free, several pieces of public art, a cafe, a restaurant, lots of free programming and more.
Located 191 metres above the downtown core, the Calgary Tower offers the best view in the city and is a must-see on any visitor's itinerary. On the Observation Deck you'll experience a spectacular 360° view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, the foothills, and the prairies. Studio Bell is dedicated to discovering, understanding, making and appreciating Canadian music. The centre offers ear-opening, hands-on exhibits and events for people of all ages and interests in an architecturally intriguing building in Calgary’s East Village.
Opened in July 2011, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame was relocated from Toronto to WinSport at Canada Olympic Park. Its exhibits tell the compelling stories of more than 500 of Canada’s sports heroes and are set in a state-of-the-art building that can host events for up to 250.
Arts Commons is a world-class performing arts and entertainment centre in downtown Calgary. Home to groups such as Theatre Calgary, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre, Arts Commons’ facilities include the Jack Singer Concert Hall, Martha Cohen Theatre, the Engineered Air Theatre and numerous flexible space for events of any description.
This picturesque complex has captivated worldwide show jumping audiences. It is also one of Canada’s premier centres for conferences, business meetings and special events. Spruce Meadows blends the discipline of sport with the communication of international commerce and the goodwill of visitors. The Congress Hall offers 12,000 sq. ft. of specially designed space, with flexibility to handle meetings and events ranging from small to large.
History is alive at Fort Calgary, the city’s birthplace. An authentic historical setting for meaningful and memorable events in a variety of indoor spaces: Officers’ Mess, Main Floor Barracks and Interpretive Centre. The Fort overlooks the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers and is on the eastern edge of East Village, a newly revitalized downtown community. With its full-service meeting and banquet facilities and flexible setting, Fort Calgary has a well-earned reputation for western hospitality.
The official home of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, Stampede Park is a multi-purpose group of facilities, with over 450,000 sq. ft. of flexible space. Situated on the southern shoulder of downtown Calgary, the site has two light rail transit stations and parking for more than 4,000 vehicles. Each year Stampede Park hosts trade and consumer shows, meetings, conferences, banquets, special events, concerts and sporting events.
Be at the centre of everything. The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre has 122,000 sq. ft. of flexible space with a 20,000-sq.-ft. ballroom plus five pre-function areas. Part of the vibrant Stephen Avenue pedestrian mall, it’s just steps from some of Calgary’s finest restaurants and part of one of North America’s most centralized business and entertainment districts. The CTCC connects to three leading hotels (the Fairmont Palliser Calgary, the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Calgary) and is close to dozens more.
Founded some 50 years ago by oilman Eric Harvie, the Glenbow Museum is located next to the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre in downtown Calgary. One of the largest museums in Canada, the Glenbow includes a museum, art gallery, library and archives and has more than one million artifacts and some 28,000 works of art in its vast collections. Many of those pieces are linked to the people and history of Western Canada. The museum hosts receptions from 50 to 600 people.
TELUS Spark, Calgary’s science centre, is on a 15-acre site just north of the Calgary Zoo and minutes from the downtown core. Opened in October 2011, it is Canada’s first new science centre in more than 25 years. A place for the curious, Spark offers breathtaking architecture and a full-service events team, making it the place for events designed to impress. The centre can be transformed to host a cocktail reception, fundraising gala or corporate team building.
Step back in time to the days of steam trains, wagon rides and old-fashioned fun. Heritage Park is a living historical village. Many of its buildings, artifacts and furnishings have been collected, assembled and preserved to reflect life in western Canada at the turn of the 20th century. Behind the brick facade of Gasoline Alley is a modern building with a variety of meeting spaces, including the Grand Hall with buffet, banquet and reception capacity for up to 1,000.
