La Giralda - Cathedral

Minaret of the central mosque of Seville, which is today the , its construction began in 1184. Its name comes from the weathervane at the top of tower and which is known as the Giraldillo, which is in fact probably the best known symbol of the city. It was originally called the Triumph of the Victorious Faith and was once the largest bronze sculpture of the European Renaissance.
Construction concluded in 1568 with the addition of Renaissance bell chamber. Interestingly, the city of Marrakech has a twin tower just like the Giralda.
The tower, due to its complex history, comprises several perfectly interweaved sections, reflecting the cultural melting-pot in the city. For the construction of the Moorish part, as can be seen in its base, the remains of the buildings and stonework of Roman Hispalis were used, as they show various blocks with Latin epigraphs. The main body is square and the top part shows a polished style executed by Hernán Ruiz II.
The Giralda has 24 bells, 18 of which turn around and 6 of which are clapper. It is, therefore, the cathedral with the greatest number of bells.

The Royal Alcazar of Sevilla, located in the heard of Seville, is one of the oldest palaces still in use in the world. The palace has evolved through different stages over time, from the late 11th century to the present day. From its walls we can appreciate the influence of the cultures that have passed through the city.
This palace-fortress was commissioned by Abd Al Raman III, it is intricately formed of exquisite rooms decorated with plasterwork, tiling and coffered ceilings, which combine perfectly with the magnificent gardens and use of water to create an unforgettable impression.
Highlights of the palace include the Patio de las Doncellas courtyard, with its beautiful tiled plinths, and the Patio de las Muñecas courtyard, with its fascinating collection of capitals.
The artistic heritage of Seville's Alcazar was enriched by magnificent contributions in the renaissance periods, such as the spectacular tiled altar made in 1504 by Francisco Niculoso Pisano and the painted altarpiece in the Almirante room, dedicated to the Virgin of Sailors. This Renaissance splendour also shines through in the rooms of Carlos V, while the interior rooms display magnificent collections of tapestries show Carlos V conquering Tunisia.
