Lincoln Road Mall is a pedestrian-only promenade and the epicenter of what’s happening in South Beach. Located between West Avenue and Washington Avenue (Map), Lincoln Road Mall offers unique shopping, sidewalk cafes, bars, galleries, and fine dining. Lincoln Road is also the best people-watching spot on South Beach.
Known for its many colorful murals, Wynwood is one of the city’s most happening districts. Wynwood Walls is an outdoor museum showcasing large-scale works by some of the world’s best-known street artists. The surrounding streets have converted warehouses housing craft breweries and funky art galleries. Established in 1987, the New World Symphony (NWS) – dubbed “America’s Orchestral Academy” – is a graduate orchestral program that prepares musicians from distinguished music programs for future leadership in professional orchestras and ensembles. Co-founded by Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas and Lin and Ted Arison, and led by Michael Tilson Thomas, NWS is made up of a group of fellowship musicians. This program gives these musicians in-depth exposure to traditional and modern repertoire, and lets them work with some of the top artists and conductors from around the world. Founded in 1963, the Bass Museum of Art houses Renaissance and Baroque works belonging to art collectors John and Johanna Bass, as well as the Lindemann Family Creativity Center – a special wing that hosts the IDEA@thebass program, a schedule of art classes and workshops. This is the third-largest National Park in the Continental U.S. and the largest subtropical wilderness in the U.S. The 1.5-million-acre park boasts rare and endangered species living in a variety of habitats. It is designated as a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and Wetland of International Importance. There are four visitor centers, miles of hiking and biking nature trails, and excellent flats fishing. Concession operators offer guided boat tours from the Gulf Coast and Flamingo areas of the park.
