The Augusta Riverwalk features a children’s playground and various gardens. Two museums are located off the walkway along with the Jessye Norman Amphitheater and several restaurants. Great for families out for some fresh air along the Savannah River.

Augusta Museum of History

Visit the region's home for history. Featured are a number of permanent exhibitions, including the award-winning Augusta's Story - a 12,000-year journey through local history; a restored 1917 steam locomotive, special exhibits: The Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown, Celebrating a Grand Tradition, the Sport of Golf and six life-size statues of golf's greatest players and much, much more.

Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History

Born into slavery, Lucy Craft Laney became one of the state's most influential educators. She started the first kindergarten and nurses' training class for blacks in Augusta and founded the Haines Institute, which educated thousands of black students.
The museum is located in the Historic Laney-Walker District, near the original site of the Haines Normal and Industrial Institute. The mission of the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History is to promote the legacy of Ms. Lucy Craft Laney through arts and history and by educating and exposing children and adults of Augusta, the State of Georgia and beyond to the arts, history, literature and leadership through exhibits and programs

Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art

Listed on the National Register, the grand is considered one of the finest examples of Federal architecture. The Institute remains the only non-profit contemporary gallery and visual arts school in the region, offering a rich calendar of nearly 30 exhibitions by regional and national artists. Today the structure's architectural features shine much as they did in the 1800s, displaying the artisan-ship of a bygone era in contrast to contemporary artwork.

Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson
