O complexo conhecido como Castelo de Lisboa e Muralhas da Cidade está classificado como Monumento Nacional por Decreto de 16 de junho de 1910.
O monumento pertence ao Estado Português e foi entregue provisoriamente à Câmara Municipal de Lisboa em 13 de setembro de 1934 e depois permanentemente em 31 de maio de 1942.
Em 8 de junho de 1979, foi publicada a Reformulação das Condições para a Cessão do Castelo de São Jorge e, em outubro de 1995, a Assembleia Municipal de Lisboa confiou o Castelo de São Jorge à EBAHL (Equipamentos dos Bairros Históricos de Lisboa E.M.) que foi sucedida, em 2003, pela EGEAC (Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural E.M.).
O monumento é composto pelo Castelo, as ruínas do Paço da Alcáçova (Palácio da Cidadela), o Palácio das Armas, um amplo miradouro panorâmico sobre a cidade, um centro arqueológico, jardins e uma série de muralhas.
O monumento ocupa uma área de cerca de 4 hectares e é delimitado por um grande anel de paredes que correspondem, em parte, aos limites da antiga cidadela de Lisboa.

This new way of discovering a city via a walking tour with various challenges is a great way to learn about its history and discover its layout.
Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.
