The Coleman Theater is an important piece of Oklahoma history, located off historic Route 66 in northeast Oklahoma. This iconic theater has been dazzling audiences with great theatrical plays and structural beauty since its opening in 1929. Throughout the year, the theater offers a wide range of excellent entertainment. Ballet, opera, silent films, jazz, dance bands, and community pageants and events are all performed in the theater.

Monkey Island Winery was started at Royal Horse Ranch in 2010 and re-opened the fall of 2017. We are fermenting and bottling wine made from purchased juice, along with Cynthiana/Norton from our home vineyards along with Pear, Peach and Blackberry wines from Monkey Island fruit. Our journey to winemaking began in 2004 with the establishment of “Grand Lake Vineyards”. We planted 50 Cynthiana/Norton vines, 50 Chardonel (a cross of Chardonnay x Sevyal, first cloned made in 1953) and 25 Grafted Cabernet Sauvignon. We planted an additional 500 vines in 2005 followed by 108 Grafted Cabernet Sauvignon at a development named “Cabernet Bay” in 2006 and 2007. Val has been collecting wines since 1970 in Boston, taught Dining Room Service for “Johnson and Wales Culinary School” in 1980, opened “The Forum”, a high-end Italian restaurant in Providence where he wrote the wine list. He increased his wine knowledge in Chicago managing the “Wine Room” at the “95th Restaurant” for 5 years in the John Hancock Building. He hosted, along with Michael Broadbent the pre-auction dinner for Christies Auction House, handling wines going back to the 1800's. Val has been a Server, General Manager, Head Chef, Wine Contributor for several Chicago papers, Maitre d' Hotel and Food & Beverage Director. During his 23 years living on Grand Lake, he has worked at the “Shebang” Restaurant, the “Greenery Room” in the “Shangri-La Resort”, “Arrowhead” and “Cherokee Yacht Club”, two private clubs on Duck Creek. Val got his first taste of winery and vineyard work training with Marsha and Gary Butler at “Summerside Vineyards and Winery” in Vinita and attended several symposiums in Arkansas, Missouri and, of course, Oklahoma. With his wife Nancy, they started Royal Horse Ranch, Monkey Island Trail & Hay Rides and Grand Lake Horse Camp, all viable businesses on Monkey Island. “We make good everyday wine for every “Grand” day!”

Royal Horse Ranch was established in January of 1994 and offers a vast variety of services including boarding, riding lessons, horse trailing and motel for the traveler who needs to keep a horse on a short term basis.

Hidden below Pensacola Dam – out of sight and out of mind of the vast majority of people out on Grand Lake – is one of the best off-roading and rock-crawling destinations in the United States.

Our mission is to provide a legacy for present and future generations, educating them on the Constitutionally established guarantee of liberty in America by remembering and honoring the courageous service given and the monumental sacrifices made by our veterans to preserve a governing system free of tyranny and despotism. Our focus will be on World War II, primarily because this was the time in history where the entirety of the human population came closest to seeing all liberty taken away. We will not attempt to tell the whole story of the war, either chronologically or geographically; we will focus instead on the service and wartime experiences of Americans from the heartland of America with its center in Oklahoma.

Come see beautiful Lendonwood Gardens, an eight-acre botanical garden near Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma. Shady pathways meander through more than a thousand types of plants, including azaleas, dogwoods, peonies, hostas, evergreen trees, and more. Visitors will find several major collections of certain plants, such as false cypress, daylilies, rhododendrons, and Japanese maples. Lendonwood also is home to the Oklahoma Garden, featuring “Oklahoma Proven” plant designated by the Oklahoma State University Extension program.

HAR-BER VILLAGE MUSEUM is a seasonal (third Saturday in March thru first Saturday in November) pioneer-era village and history museum located on the shores of Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in Oklahoma. Visitors experience the area's history and ecology through self-guided tours. Antiques, collectibles and reproductions are displayed in exhibitions representing the mid-1800s to the early 1900s in the local four-state region (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas). Several of the Village's HISTORIC BUILDINGS were relocated to the grounds, including a schoolhouse, jail and 16 log cabins. Other log structures were built to house collections and are typical for the mid-to-late 1800s-a courthouse, a bank, a stagecoach inn and a church built with bricks hand-made before the Civil War. Other replicated buildings include a mercantile, jail and hanging gallows, a doctor's and a dentist's office, print shop, post office, drug store and more. We also have Nature Trails!

The Pensacola Dam is located in Langely, Oklahoma and provides flood control for the Grand River. For over seventy years, the dam has provided renewed power for the Grand River Dam Authority giving service to approximately twenty-four counties. The dam is a true wonder and holds great history for the Grand Lake Ok area. It contains the longest multi-arch provision in the world with fifty-one arches and 21 spillways. This location is also listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
