That's why it's humbling to be recognized by the readers of California Meetings + Events Magazine as the Best Conference/Convention Center Over 100,000 Square Feet as part of their Best of 2018 reader's choice awards. In San Diego, our Convention Center is an essential part of the tourism ecosystem. We bring in organizations to host events, which generate economic benefits for the region when visitors experience the destination. After a landmark year, we're proud to have distinguished ourselves amongst our many excellent peers in the state.

Balboa Park was originally called "City Park," but was renamed after Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, in honor of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, held in the Park that year. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as, one of the Great Places in America. The Park is filled with musuems, theater, shopping, dining, wide grassy areas and a day filled with fun, arts, entertainment and music.

Food, Festivals and Farmers Markets Once home to San Diego's flourishing tuna fishing industry and generations of Italian families who made their living on the sea, Little Italy is now a lively neighborhood filled with patio cafés, packed restaurants, craft brew stops, urban wineries, art galleries, sophisticated shops, boutique hotels and the beautiful Amici Park. Today, San Diego's most dynamic food and drink scene is centered in Little Italy. It's a place where the past meets the present, where Top Chef alums have set up shop next to old-school eateries that remain treasured landmarks.

The 100-acre (40-hectare) world famous San Diego Zoo is home to more than 3,500 rare and endangered animals representing more than 650 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. It is located just north of downtown San Diego in Balboa Park.

As a premier entertainment district, guests can immerse themselves in rich Victorian architecture and history, dine with world-renowned chefs, and dance the night away at nationally-recognized nightlife venues. Tucked tightly into 16 ½ blocks, the Gaslamp Quarter is a walkable urban playground located in Downtown San Diego adjacent to the Convention Center, Petco Park, and Horton Plaza.

Historic Downtown Coronado - Along Orange Avenue you will find historic Downtown, brimming with community life—a genuine “Main Street U.S.A.” Discover shopping; everything from surfboards to high-end jewelry and the latest fashions. As well, some of the world’s most desirable beaches can be found in Coronado. Dr. Beach ranked Coronado’s Central Beach as the #1 Beach in the United States in 2012. Parents Magazine also named Coronado in its Top 10 U.S. beaches. The miles of silvery sand, rich in mica, glimmer in the sun like diamonds. There are four main beaches — Central Beach, South Beach, Silver Strand State Beach and North Beach. These beaches connect into miles of sand and ocean.
