Het lastige Keltische doolhof staat op een halve hectare en zal je zeker in verwarring brengen! Er stroomt een beekje doorheen naar de vijver in het midden en een uitkijktoren kijkt uit over de opwinding beneden. Dit heggendoolhof is uniek in ontwerp en is het hoogtepunt van de dag van de meeste mensen. The Solstice Maze is een ontspannend, contemplatief pad voor zowel volwassenen als peuters, gelegen in een grote steencirkel. Het biedt u de kans om tot rust te komen en te genieten van de rust van de prachtige Wicklow Mountains. Gemaakt tijdens de winterzonnewende, 21 december, zijn er 21 buitenste stenen, die 4 grote staande stenen omringen die de seizoenen vertegenwoordigen.

Het dorp Avoca werd oorspronkelijk opgericht als coöperatie in 1723. Hier konden lokale boeren hun maïs malen en hun wol spinnen en weven voor kleding voor de plaatselijke mijnwerkers. Het was een moeilijke tijd op het Ierse platteland en het werd al snel een belangrijke lokale hulpbron. Aanvankelijk werd alleen ongekleurd garen gebruikt in tweed voor kleding en dekens voor bedden. Later kwam er echter kleur naar de valleien toen natuurlijke plantaardige kleurstoffen in rood, groen en geel werden gebruikt. Deze werden al snel herkend als de kenmerkende kleuren van Avoca.
