De Greenbrier River Trail

De Greenbrier River Trail is een 78 mijl lange spoorlijn die wordt beheerd door het West Virginia State Park-systeem. Het gebruik van de paden omvat fietsen, backpacken, langlaufen en paardrijden. Een vol, brekend wegdek in combinatie met een helling van slechts één procent zorgt voor een rijgemak waarbij fietsers, jong en oud, kunnen genieten van de vele adembenemende uitzichten. Het pad komt grotendeels overeen met zijn naamgenoot, de Greenbrier River, en biedt trailgebruikers talloze mogelijkheden om te zwemmen en te vissen. De Greenbrier River Trail doorkruist een van de meest afgelegen gebieden in de staat en grenst aan het Monongahela National Forest, Seneca State Forest en Watoga State Park. Een tocht langs het pad is echt een „wilde en prachtige” ervaring. Trailgebruikers worden aangemoedigd om tijdens het jachtseizoen in West Virginia fel oranje of felgekleurde bovenkleding te dragen.

Daal 120 voet onder het aardoppervlak af naar een uitgestrekt wonderland van stalactieten en stalagmieten. Lost World Caverns, ontdekt in 1942, is echt een magische plek voor jong en oud. Het duurt ongeveer 45 minuten om er doorheen te lopen. We bieden rondleidingen zonder gids, zodat je de tijd kunt nemen om de grot in je eigen tempo te verkennen. Vergeet niet om op het pad te blijven. Er wordt een gidsblad meegeleverd om u te vertellen over de vele verschillende formaties die deel uitmaken van deze lus van 1/2 mijl. Wat de buitentemperatuur ook is, de grot blijft altijd een constante 52 graden. Een lichte jas en goede schoenen worden aanbevolen.
