Het Spread Eagle Hotel siert al sinds de 16e eeuw het hart van de historische marktstad Thame. Het monumentale hotel ligt tussen de ambachtelijke slagers, bakkers, delicatessenzaken en theewinkels langs het charmante stadscentrum, dat wordt gebruikt als filmlocatie voor ITV's Midsummer Murders. Tijdens zijn kleurrijke geschiedenis heeft The Spread Eagle Hotel onderdak geboden aan vele historische figuren zoals koning Charles II en schrijvers zoals Evelyn Waugh en John Fothergill (An Innkeepers Diary). Aan de buitenkant is het The Spread Eagle Hotel direct herkenbaar aan het originele bord van 30 meter met de afbeelding van The Spread Eagle, dat al meer dan een eeuw reizigers verwelkomt. Het hotel heeft zijn gevoel voor erfgoed en persoonlijkheid van binnen behouden, waar naast de ingang een vergaderruimte met de naam The Cockpit te zien is. Deze kamer werd vroeger gebruikt voor hanengevechten, maar biedt nu een verfijnde ruimte voor maximaal 8 personen voor privédiners of vergaderingen. De aangrenzende bar is stijlvol en uitnodigend, met smaakvol eigenzinnig meubilair. Zilverkleurige en taupe fauteuils staan gegroepeerd rond koffietafels die worden ondersteund door antiquarische boeken, terwijl eetkamerstoelen met hoge rugleuning elegant op de lichte eikenhouten vloer staan.
