Het Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant staat in het nationaal register van historische plaatsen. Het prachtige adobe-gebouw op de eerste verdieping uit 1820 was de privéwoning van Don Juan Bandini, een kleurrijke en belangrijke speler in de vroege ontwikkeling van San Diego. Zijn huis werd gebouwd op het eerste stadsplein van San Diego tussen 1827 en 1829. In 1869 werd het gebouw, eigendom van Albert Seeley, de exploitant van de enige postkoetsbaan van San Diego naar Los Angeles, uitgebreid met de 2e verdieping tot The Cosmopolitan Hotel. Het gebouw, eigendom van California State Parks, werd volledig gerenoveerd en gerestaureerd tot zijn uiterlijk uit 1869. Het werd heropend in juli 2010.
