The Underwater Museum of Art or MUSA is a museum located under the waters of the Mexican Caribbean Sea. The museum officially opened in November 2010, during the celebration of COP 16. Currently, MUSA is one of the largest and most ambitious underwater attractions in the world.
Due to the appropriation and metamorphosis that marine life makes of the sculptural work, it could be considered as a co-creation between human and nature. As the inert sculptures come to life under the sea, their aesthetic appearance is mutated and human references become blurred by lively coral reefs.
The sculptures occupy an area of 420 m2 of sterile substrate and reach a weight of more than 200 tons, being ecologically conceptualized from all areas in order to promote coral life: the materials with which they are made, the implementation of these in the sea floor and the way visitors are invited to tour the museum.

It has the southern zone dating back to the seventh century and shows the Mayan-style construction Puuc and the central area, built after the arrival of the Toltecs around the 10th century, shows the fusion of the architectural styles Puuc and the central highlands of Mexico .
The most impressive structures of Chichen Itza are located in the central area. There you will find the Ball Game, temples, the spectacular Castle (Pyramid of Kukulkan) and the Mayan stone calendar that measures 25 meters. Toltec warriors are represented in the engravings that are around the entrance, at the top of El Castillo. Local guides will give you detailed information about Chichen Itza and even take you to a Sacred Cenote.
