SULEYMANIYE MOSKEE
De Süleymaniye Moskee is een Ottomaanse keizerlijke moskee gelegen op de Derde Heuvel van Istanbul, Turkije. Het is de grootste moskee in de stad, en een van de bekendste bezienswaardigheden van Istanbul. De Süleymaniye-moskee, gebouwd in opdracht van Sultan Süleyman, „had het geluk te kunnen putten uit de talenten van het architectonische genie van Mimar Sinan. De bouwwerkzaamheden begonnen in 1550 en de moskee werd voltooid in 1558. Dit „enorme religieuze complex genaamd de Süleymaniye vermengde islamitische en Byzantijnse architectonische elementen. Het combineert hoog, slanke minaretten met grote koepelvormige gebouwen ondersteund door halve koepels in de stijl van de Byzantijnse kerk Hagia Sophia die de Ottomanen ombouwden tot de moskee van Ayasofya.

Galata was een wijk tegenover Constantinopel in het huidige Istanbul, gelegen aan de noordelijke oever van de Gouden Hoorn, de inham die het scheidt van het historische schiereiland van het oude Constantinopel. De Gouden Hoorn wordt doorkruist door verschillende bruggen, met name de Galatabrug. De middeleeuwse citadel van Galata was een kolonie van de Republiek Genua tussen 1273 en 1453. De beroemde Galatatoren werd gebouwd door de Genuezen in 1348 op het noordelijkste en hoogste punt van de citadel. Momenteel is Galata een wijk in de wijk Beyoğlu in Istanbul, en staat bekend als Karaköy.

De Basilica Cisterne, gelegen in de drukke wijk Eminönü van Istanbul naast de Hagia Sophia, werd gebouwd om de stad Istanbul van water te voorzien tijdens het bewind van keizer Justinianus I in de 6e eeuw CE. Deze cisterne is een ondergrondse kamer van 138 x 64,6 meter. De grote ruimte wordt opgebroken door een bos van 336 marmeren zuilen, die esthetisch worden ondersteund door sterke kolommen en bogen. De plafondgewelven, bekend als Manastır Tonozu, zijn gebouwd zonder gebruik te maken van een mal. De stortbak is omgeven door een vuurvaste muur met een dikte van 3,5 meter en is bedekt met een speciale mortel om het waterdicht te maken.

De Blauwe Moskee werd gebouwd door Sedefkar Mehmet Aga in de sultan 1.Ahmet's tijd tussen 1609-1616 jaar. Het is gelegen op de plaats van het Grote Paleis van Byzantium, aan de zuidoostelijke kant van het Hippodroom. Het wordt door Europeanen blauw genoemd vanwege de blauwe tegels aan de binnenkant die meer dan 20.000 stuks werden gebruikt. De moskee staat in de volksmond ook bekend als een fascinerende structuur met zes minaretten omdat het slechts zes minarettenmoskee in Turkije is.

Hagia Sophia is een voormalige christelijke patriarchale basiliek, later een keizerlijke moskee, en nu een museum in Istanbul, Turkije. Vanaf de bouwdatum in 537 tot 1453 diende het als Grieks-orthodoxe kathedraal en zetel van het patriarchaat van Constantinopel, behalve tussen 1204 en 1261, toen het werd omgebouwd tot een rooms-katholieke kathedraal onder het Latijnse rijk. Het gebouw was een moskee van 29 mei 1453 tot 1931. Het werd vervolgens geseculariseerd en geopend als museum op 1 februari 1935.
