De stad Hostalric is iets meer dan 3 km2 groot en heeft 4.000 inwoners. Het staat op de linkeroever van de rivier de Tordera, waar het samenkomt met de Arbúcies-beek. Hostalric grenst aan verschillende grotere plattelandssteden en is de kleinste gemeente in de provincie la Selva. Hostalric is een gemeente met een bevoorrechte locatie. Het ligt aan de rand van de La Selva-vlakte en op minder dan een uur rijden van de dichtstbijzijnde steden, de kust en de bergen. Girona ligt op ongeveer 40 km van Hostalric en Barcelona op ongeveer 60 km. De dichtstbijzijnde stranden zijn Blanes en Malgrat, op ongeveer 20 km afstand, en in iets meer dan een half uur kunnen we twee natuurlijke bergparken bereiken, Montseny, dat verder landinwaarts ligt, en Montnegre, dat dichter bij de zee ligt.
