De missie van de Atlanta Botanical Garden is het ontwikkelen en onderhouden van plantencollecties voor weergave, educatie, onderzoek, conservering en plezier. De tuin bevat verschillende landschappen met een verscheidenheid aan planten. Bij de ingang liggen formele tuinen, zoals de Japanse tuin en de rozentuin. Twee bosgebieden, het 5 hectare grote Upper Woodland en de 10 hectare grote Storza Woods, hebben grote bomen en schaduwminnende bloemen en ondergroei. De kindertuin biedt grillige sculpturen, fonteinen en interpretatieve tentoonstellingen over plantkunde, ecologie en voeding.
