Once upon a time in 2016, Matt Levy, founder of Covert Cocktail Club, hosted a secret speakeasy as an intimate place for strangers to gather in his home. The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”. A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era. Liberated from the confines of a single location, Covert Cocktail Club now brings the speakeasy right to your door—be it at your home, office, bar mitzvah, dinner party, bachelor/ette party or anywhere you choose!

Kunst, cultuur en recreatie 1. Een van Amerika's oudste musea, het Albany Institute of History & Art, werd opgericht in 1791, tijdens het presidentschap van George Washington, en is daarmee ouder dan het Louvre, het Smithsonian en het Metropolitan Museum of Art. 2. Kunsthistorici hebben de Empire State Plaza Art Collection „de grootste verzameling moderne Amerikaanse kunst op een enkele openbare site die geen museum is” genoemd. De collectie werd opgericht onder leiding van gouverneur Nelson A. Rockefeller tijdens de bouw van het Empire State Plaza (1966-1978). Tweeënnegentig werken van abstract-expressionistische kunst zijn permanent te zien op het hele plein. 3. Het Empire State Plaza, een verzameling kantoorgebouwen van overheidsinstellingen, domineert bijna elk uitzicht op Albany. Gebouwd tussen 1965 en 1978 door gouverneur Nelson A. Rockefeller en architect Wallace Harrison, is het complex een krachtig voorbeeld van laat-Amerikaanse moderne architectuur en blijft het een controversieel bouwproject, zowel vanwege de ontheemding van stadsbewoners als vanwege de architecturale stijl. Het meest herkenbare aspect van het complex is de Erastus Corning Tower, het hoogste gebouw in New York buiten New York City.
