Waarom kiezen voor onze bestemming?
De oude hanzestad Frankfurt aan de Oder is zeker een bezoek waard. Machtige historische gebouwen in de Noord-Duitse baksteengotiek getuigen van het prachtige verleden, zoals het stadhuis of de St. Marienkerk met zijn kleurrijke en heldere glasschilderingen, een gedetailleerde weergave van het bijbelse verhaal, de beroemde prentenbijbel. De concertzaal” Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach „, een voormalige Franciscaanse kerk, is onder andere de woonplaats van het Brandenburg Staatsorkest en de” Singakademie „(koor). Sinds 1999 draagt Frankfurt de titel „Kleist Town”: hier werd de dichter geboren, hier studeerde hij en hier is het Kleist gedenkteken en onderzoeksfaciliteit gevestigd. Maar Frankfurt heeft meer musea die een bezoek waard zijn: bijvoorbeeld het Museum Viadrina of het Museum Junge Kunst (jonge kunst). De stad is trots op haar opnieuw opgerichte Europa Universität Viadrina (1992): op dit moment studeren hier jongeren uit 78 verschillende landen. Frankfurt is een sportstad, veel Olympische, Wereld- en Europese medaillewinnaars komen hier vandaan. Frankfurt is een erg” groene „stad, met veel prachtige oude parken — zeker een bezoek waard. En last but not least: Frankfurt wordt een zonnestad. Drie bedrijven die handelen in milieuvriendelijke zonnetechnologie hebben hier hun bedrijf gevestigd. Zoals het spreekwoord zegt: de zon komt op in het oosten!
