Additional details
A tourism tax will be charged on Majorca and the neighboring islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, effective from July 1, 2016. This tax is to serve the protection of the environment and landscape, the maintenance of the islands’ historical and cultural heritage, and investment in tourist infrastructure. The amount is based on the type of accommodation, about 1.50 € for peak season stays (May 1 to October 31). Off-peak stays (November 1 to April 30), as well as from the 9th day of a stay are 50% less. Children under 16 years are exempt. The tax will be listed in the hotel invoice on arrival or departure and passed on to the Revenue Service.
