The first legislative session was held in the new state capitol in 1877. The growth of the state had increased the need for more file storage and office space than the Old State Capitol allowed. Today it is the center of state government and houses the offices of the Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasure, as well as the House of Representatives and Senate Chambers. Visitors can watch Illinois politics in action from balcony level seating when the legislature is in session. (Accessible entrance at west side.)

Lincoln practiced law in these quarters from 1843 to around 1852. Restored to resenble its bustling prime.

The Presidential Library contains an overwhelming treasury of carefully preserved Lincoln documents and artifacts including more than 12 million items from the Illinois State Historical Library. Providing an amazing resource of information for families, historians, and scholars alike. The museum presents permanent displays, such as “through Lincoln’s Eyes,” a vibrant, multi-screen presentation that puts you at the center of some of the Civil War’s epic moments.

Knights Action Park is a miniature golf park, driving range and Caribbean-themed water park in Springfield, Illinois. It is open throughout the summer and is a great place for families.
