The idyllic setting and outstanding indoor-outdoor flow makes Wharerata the venue of choice when hosting conferences, weddings, garden parties and family celebrations. Our 1900 Homestad provides the perfect environment for your special occasion. Steeped in history with a timeless elegance, the wood panelled room and period decor create a memorable setting. For the ultimate indoor-outdoor event - match a marquee on the lawn with the majesty of the homestead to create a character venue that your guests will adore. The beauty of our spacious venue is that guests can move from the ceremony straight inside for the reception without having to travel anywhere. Weddings at Wharerata have been long-standing tradition. We know how to take great care of you and your family and create a special day for the wedding couple and guests to remember.
With an outdoor marquee we can cater for up to 380 guests, if indoors this reduces to around 150-200 or 90 for a full sit-down event.

Once upon a time in 2016, Matt Levy, founder of Covert Cocktail Club, hosted a secret speakeasy as an intimate place for strangers to gather in his home. The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”. A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era. Liberated from the confines of a single location, Covert Cocktail Club now brings the speakeasy right to your door—be it at your home, office, bar mitzvah, dinner party, bachelor/ette party or anywhere you choose!

What started in 1983 as a limited six week engagement at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada (now the LINQ), celebrates 40 years of entertaining more than 40 million fans around the globe.
