Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center

Serving as the center for entertainment in downtown Montgomery, the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre is a state-of-the-art facility, large enough for first run Broadway shows, yet intimate enough with 1,800 seats to view a wide variety of concerts, opera, comedy, dance and children's shows.

The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1930 and is the oldest fine arts museum in the state. Begun by artist John Kelly Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Harry S. Houghton, and the “Morning View Painters” in an abandoned school building provided by the City of Montgomery at an annual rent of one dollar, the Museum has always had an abiding interest in American art. The original museum building may have been small, but our programming was adventurous. Early loan exhibitions featured furniture, silver, china, pictures, and historical relics, often on loan from local or regional collectors. Special traveling exhibitions included such important collections as English and American Portraits from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and two presentations of Renaissance paintings from the Kress Collection. Even from the earliest years of existence it was clear that Montgomery’s new art museum was committed to exhibit artworks of national and international significance, as well as the work of its most talented area artists.

One of the most popular sites on the Trail, Capitol Hill, in Prattville, continues to get praises from golfers and golf writers alike. Golf Magazine called the Judge course one of the 10 public courses in America worthy of hosting the U.S. Open and the Zagat Survey of America's Top Golf Courses ranked it among the top 50 courses in America. The Senator course was named among the Top 10 New Courses in the nation by Golf Magazine and is the host course for the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. Capitol Hill features three 18-hole championship courses. With more than 1,500 acres of golf and nature, the pure magnitude of this facility is amazing and allows each course to be drastically different from the others.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, located in Montgomery - Alabama's state capital - is a fully professional regional theatre that produces around ten productions each season in association with Actors' Equity Association, The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and United Scenic Artists union. Productions of Shakespeare are at the artistic core of the company. Broadway musicals, children's productions, American classics and world premieres round out the annual offerings at ASF. ASF, the State’s Theatre, is the largest professional, producing theatre in Alabama and one of the largest Shakespeare festivals in the world. Since the theatre first opened, millions of adults have experienced one of the theatre’s productions. Each season, ASF produces seven to ten plays, including at least two plays by Shakespeare.

Our residents include over 500 animals from five different continents, all housed in natural, barrier-free habitats. The Zoo spans over 40 beautifully landscaped acres, offering you a magnificent view of exotic wildlife and endangered species. By leisurely stroll, or with a ride on the miniature train, the Montgomery Zoo is a sight to see! From the new African elephants and their amazing habitat to the roaring lions and zebra, the Montgomery Zoo is the place to be. Eat lunch with the giraffes! Share your ice cream with a bison! Our Overlook Cafe is surrounded by animals, offering a view unique to the Zoo. Take an adventurous train ride while seeing the sights of the Zoo. From the train you can see many of the favorite exhibits, as well as the Zoo’s lake which is inhabited by a variety of birds and water fowl. Take a stroll through the flight free aviary. The aviary offers the birds the freedom to fly and roam, allowing you a more intimate look. The aviary houses a variety of birds that are native to the South American Tropics. The colors and diversity will completely amaze you! The reptile house is home to some of the world's most exotic snakes and reptiles. All are nested in natural settings, offering an up close and personal view, from a safe distance. And while you are visiting the Zoo, don’t forget about the Mann Museum. The museum hosts over 275 exhibits of wildlife, various fresh and saltwater fish, reptiles and insects that are found in North America. It also houses over 70 exhibits that are mounted in life size. The museum displays are unique in that the visitor can view the exhibit from three sides, under special lighting. Visitors also have the opportunity to hear natural sounds of the many North American animals.

The Montgomery Biscuits are a minor league baseball team based in Montgomery, Alabama. The team is the Class AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays and plays in the Southern League. The 2004 season was the team's first in Montgomery. The Biscuits play in the Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,000.
