Il Teatro Colon di Buenos Aires è uno dei teatri d'opera più importanti del mondo. La sua storia ricca e prestigiosa e le eccezionali condizioni acustiche e architettoniche del suo edificio lo collocano al livello di teatri come la Scala di Milano, l'Opera di Parigi, l'Opera di Vienna, il Covent Garden di Londra e il Metropolitan di New York. Il Teatro Colon funzionò dal 1857 al 1888, anno in cui fu chiuso per la costruzione di una nuova sala. Fu inaugurato il 25 maggio 1908 con una rappresentazione di Aida. All'inizio, il Colón assunse compagnie straniere per le sue stagioni; dal 1925 aveva i suoi organi stabili - Orchestra, Balletto e Coro - e i suoi laboratori di produzione, che gli permisero, già negli anni Trenta, di organizzare le proprie stagioni finanziate dal bilancio della città. Da allora, il Teatro Colón è stato definito un teatro stagionale. Nel corso della sua storia diversi importanti cantanti sono saliti sul suo palco come Enrico Caruso, Claudia Muzio, Maria Callas, Régine Crespin, Birgit Nilsson, Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti. Anche ballerini come Vaslav Nijinski, Margot Fonteyn, Maia Plisetskaia, Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Barishnikov, registi come Arturo Toscanini, Herbert von Karajan, Hector Panizza, Ferdinand Leitner, tra dozzine di altri. È inoltre frequente che, seguendo la tradizione inaugurata da Richard Strauss, Camille Saint-Saëns, Pietro Mascagni e Ottorino Respighi, i compositori vengano al Colón per dirigere o supervisionare le prime delle proprie opere. Un tempo povero porto mercantile, la zona costiera di Puerto Madero è oggi uno dei quartieri più alla moda di Buenos Aires, pieno di ristoranti di lusso e discoteche abbaglianti. L'isola, in gran parte pedonale, ospita alcuni degli edifici architettonici più imponenti della città. Appartamenti di lusso e grattacieli per uffici dominano l'area, circondando con stile una piazza affacciata sul mare e sostenuta da un'ampia distesa di aree verdi preservate in modo naturale. Dal quartiere, il punto forte è l'emblematico «Puente de la Mujer», un ponte artistico che collega Puerto Madero al centro continentale di Plaza de Mayo. Si dice che il design futuristico creato dalla scultura spagnolo di Santiago Calatrava simboleggi una danza astratta del tango e proietti una silhouette sorprendente sullo skyline della città. Caminito è una delle passeggiate più emblematiche della città e delle attrazioni imperdibili per chi la visita. Con i suoi tipici caseggiati in lamiera del quartiere di La Boca, che mostrano le pareti dipinte in diversi colori, è anche un museo a cielo aperto di quasi 150 metri di lunghezza. Per molto tempo fece parte del percorso della ferrovia per Ensenada (a un'ora da Buenos Aires), fino a quando nel 1928 la filiale fu chiusa e la strada divenne un vicolo abbandonato. Fu grazie all'iniziativa di diversi vicini, tra cui il pittore Benito Quinquela Martín (uno dei principali benefattori del quartiere e la cui opera è commemorata attraverso le case colorate di La Boca), che negli anni '50 recuperò il terreno per trasformarlo in una passeggiata pedonale e in un museo di strada, in cui a poco a poco furono aggiunte opere di diversi artisti. Nel 1959, per iniziativa di Quinquela Martín, fu battezzato con il nome del famoso tango «Caminito», Nella «Fiera degli artisti plastici di Caminito» troverai artisti contemporanei di eccezionale successo, che espongono e vendono le loro opere ispirate ai colori dell'ambiente circostante e all'atmosfera del tango. Funziona tutti i giorni dalle 11:00 alle 18:00, in inverno, e dalle 11:00 alle 20:00, in estate. Il nostro Hotel si trova a soli 20 minuti dalla famosa «Calle Caminito»

Fiera dell'antiquariato del quartiere di San Telmo, città di Buenos Aires, capitale dell'Argentina. Creata nel 1970 dall'architetto José María Peña, questa fiera domenicale ha 270 bancarelle. Situato in piazza Dorrego (Humberto Primo e Defensa), funziona ogni domenica dalle 10:00 alle 16:00. È visitato da più di diecimila persone ogni domenica; per lo più turisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. La fiera di San Telmo è famosa per le bancarelle che vendono oggetti d'antiquariato e curiosità, nota anche come «Mercado de Pulgas». La fiera ha il suo cuore in Plaza Dorrego, ma si estende per le strade circostanti, in particolare attraverso la via Defensa. Inoltre nella zona spiccano i vecchi caffè, i negozi di antiquariato e i negozi di abbigliamento. Il Tortoni Café, situato in Avenida de Mayo 825, nella città di Buenos Aires. Il suo nome deriva quasi senza dubbio da quello che alla fine del XIX secolo era il famoso Café Tortoni di Parigi. Da quasi un secolo il Tortoni Café argentino di Buenos Aires è il più rappresentativo dello spirito tradizionale dell'avenue de Mayo ed è già una leggenda della città di Buenos Aires. In questo caffè si svolgeva la scena letteraria più importante di Buenos Aires, guidata dal pittore Benito Quinquela Martín. Ancora oggi è il luogo di diffusione culturale e turistica per eccellenza. Attualmente il proprietario del caffè è il Touring Club Argentino. La sala «La Bodega», nel seminterrato, fa da cornice a diversi artisti di tango e jazz. In quest'ultima categoria, vale la pena notare la permanenza della Fénix Jazz Band, un ensemble jazz tradizionale argentino che suona ogni sabato, dal 1978. Ci sono anche presentazioni di libri e concorsi di poesia. Il caffè conserva la decorazione dei suoi primi anni e l'uscita da via Rivadavia. Ha anche una biblioteca e, sullo sfondo, tavoli da biliardo e sale per giocare a domino e dadi. Il nostro hotel si trova a soli tre isolati da questa importante attrazione.
