Galataport Istanbul is een voorbeeldproject op wereldschaal en beschikt over een ondergrondse terminal met een luiksysteem, de eerste in zijn soort ter wereld. De historische haven behoudt zijn status als de maritieme toegangspoort van Istanbul tot de wereld. Een ander aspect van het project is een ondergrondse parkeergarage met 2.400 voertuigen, die het parkeerprobleem in de stad zal helpen verminderen. Galataport Istanbul zal ongeveer 25 miljoen bezoekers per jaar verwelkomen, waaronder 7 miljoen buitenlandse toeristen.
