Le littoral toulonnais a accueilli pendant trente ans la prestigieuse Giraglia Cup. Sa création en 1953 vise à resserrer les liens d'amitié entre deux pays déchirés par la guerre, la France et l'Italie. Soixante ans plus tard, la Giraglia Cup présente un palmarès saisissant de l'architecture navale de la course. Toulon entretient des liens ancestraux étroits et puissants avec la Méditerranée.
