La Garrotxa est une région enclavée de la région de Gérone, au nord-est de la Catalogne : la majeure partie du terrain se situe à moins de 600 m d'altitude, bien que ses plus hauts sommets dépassent la barre des 1 500 m.
La Garrotxa offre deux types de paysages totalement différents. D'une part, plus de 40 volcans et de nombreuses coulées de lave recouvrent une grande partie de la moitié sud de la comarque et donnent naissance à un paysage vallonné, aujourd'hui protégé par le parc naturel de la zone volcanique de La Garrotxa, dépourvu de relief majeur.
