Golden Gate Bridge

Repère historique
À 5 blocks
he Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic structure connecting the city of San Francisco to Marin County, California. It spans almost two miles across the Golden Gate, the narrow strait where San Francisco Bay opens to meet the Pacific Ocean. The dream of connecting San Francisco to its northern neighbors became a reality when construction commenced in 1933. Given the chance for steady employment amid the Great Depression, construction crews braved treacherous conditions as the roadway and towers took shape over open water. The Golden Gate Bridge, opened to the public in 1937, has endured as a picture-perfect landmark and an engineering marvel.

SF Cable Car

Unbeatable views. Unforgettable trips. No experience is more uniquely San Francisco than a ride on a cable car. Cable cars have come to symbolize our great city (along with another world-renowned transportation icon. Hint: it's a suspension bridge painted an International Orange color.) After all, we're the city that first launched cars pulled along by cables running beneath the street. Invented here nearly 150 years ago and named a National Historic Landmark in 1964, today's San Francisco cable cars are kept in tip-top shape by our agency.

PIER 39 is the premiere entertainment destination in the heart of the San Francisco waterfront. Along with two levels of dining, entertainment, shopping and attractions both on The PIER and in San Francisco Bay, PIER 39 is home to the world-famous sea lions, who have been delighting guests daily at K-Dock since 1990. The PIER is a gathering place for millions of guests annually. With picture perfect views of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Alcatraz and the city skyline at almost every turn, it is easy to see why PIER 39 has recently been named the most visited attraction in San Francisco for the ninth consecutive year. The SF Cannery

Shopping
À 1 block
The Cannery San Francisco is a historic, remodeled building in Fisherman's Wharf. This beautiful, brick structure sits about three blocks west of Pier 39. Originally built in 1907, it housed the canning operation for Del Monte in this region for 30 years. It was the largest canning location in the US for most of that time. Once Del Monte closed it in 1937, it was used as a warehouse for a number of smaller businesses. In the 1960s, a local investor purchased it and transformed it into a fun, vintage retail and restaurant space.
