Orfila Vineyards and Winery is a boutique winery nestled in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley of Escondido, California. Founded in 1994 by Alejandro Orfila, a former Argentine ambassador, the winery has become a prominent figure in Southern California’s wine scene, celebrated for its artisanal, small-batch handcrafted wines. Orfila is particularly renowned for its Rhône-style varietals, which beautifully reflect the character of the land. Spanning over 70 acres, with 40 acres planted in premium grape varietals, Orfila benefits from a Mediterranean-like microclimate—warm days balanced by cool coastal breezes—perfect for producing high-quality grapes. The estate vineyards are home to varietals such as Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot, Viognier, and Montepulciano. Additionally, Orfila sources grapes from esteemed regions like Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara (Sauvignon Blanc), French Camp (Lagrein, Malbec), Santa Rita Hills (Chardonnay), Santa Maria Valley (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay), and Temecula Valley (Pinot Gris, Vermentino), which contribute to the complexity and depth of Orfila’s wines.
