Diseñado por el arquitecto de San Francisco Arthur Brown, Jr. entre 1926 y 1931, el Auditorio Mellon es el foco central de un grupo de edificios tripartitos que ocupa el área de dos manzanas entre las calles 12 y 14 de Constitution Avenue, en el cuadrante noroeste de Washington DC.
