Ubicado en una pequeña cala tan cerca del mar que el agua baña el edificio durante la marea alta, la ubicación de este magnífico ejemplo del estilo arquitectónico renacentista es tan atractiva como su contenido. Las exhibiciones del museo incluyen una impresionante colección de arte, piezas raras de muebles indoportugueses, algunos restos arqueológicos prehistóricos y una biblioteca que destaca por su manuscrito iluminado fechado en 1505 y algunos volúmenes ricamente encuadernados del siglo XVII.
El palacio fue construido por Jorge O'Neill en 1897 según un diseño de Luigi Magnini, creador de algunos importantes proyectos renacentistas neomanuelinos, como el Hotel Bussaco Palace en el centro de Portugal y la Quinta da Regaleira en Sintra. El edificio fue desarrollado aún más por el destacado pintor y arquitecto Francisco Vilaça.
Al pasear por el parque Marechal Carmona que lo rodea, encontrará una pequeña capilla, unos hermosos azulejos pintados y un pequeño zoológico.

Boca del Infierno
Boca do Inferno es uno de los lugares más fascinantes de Cascais. Su nombre se debe al tamaño y la fuerza de las enormes olas que azotan estas costas en invierno. Traducida literalmente como la Boca del Infierno, Boca do Inferno son los restos de una antigua cueva con su boca abierta que se adentra en el mar en forma de arco, a través del cual las olas del Atlántico chocan sin descanso.
Con características tan únicas como esta, los visitantes solo pueden maravillarse ante un espectáculo tan increíble y disfrutar de las magníficas puestas de sol desde ese mismo lugar.
Junto a la plataforma de observación, los visitantes encontrarán un restaurante, una cafetería y algunas tiendas que venden productos de fabricación local.

En 2006, la pintora londinense Paula Rego (actualmente la artista plástica portuguesa más conocida de su generación) eligió Cascais como sede de su Casa de las Historias, un proyecto diseñado por el arquitecto Eduardo Souto de Moura.
La muestra incluye un número importante de sus obras, así como algunas de su esposo, Victor Willing, artista y crítico que murió en 1988.
Con su variado programa paralelo, la Casa de Historias de Paula Rego es una atracción cultural de primera clase que ofrece un servicio educativo dinámico y continuo para la comunidad local mediante la rotación continua de su colección.

Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.
