About us

You see it in the art and architecture. It runs through the gorgeous flourishes of woodwork and stone. And most definitely, it hangs in the air like a protest: This city is alive and well, thank you very much. Because the Detroit Foundation Hotel is exactly that. The foundation of a brand new renaissance, a collaborative burgeoning of creativity and dynamism. Starting right here in the heart of this grand old city.  Built within the storied walls of the historic Detroit  Fire Department Headquarters, the Foundation features the original building facades, massive terracotta archways, and a voluminous story-and-a-half high ground floor that once housed fire engines. Built-in 1929,  our 100 room hotel uses the building’s origins to great advantage by restoring and repurposing much of the strong architectural and decorative finishes.  No doubt, it’s a building that’s seen it all – standing the test of time. Earning its honored place among the city’s ultimate legacy. Now, the  Foundation beckons locals and visitors from far and wide to come and be a witness. To discover and experience the real heart and soul of Detroit. With approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, public spaces designed for socializing, creating, eating, drinking, and relaxing, we will bring together world travelers and neighbors and showcase Detroit’s legacy and knack for innovation.
