Local Attractions

Boston Museum of Fine Arts

Showcasing ancient artistry and modern masterpieces, local legends and global visionaries, the museum's renowned collection of nearly 500,000 works tells the story of the human experience—a story that holds unique meaning for everyone.

Boston Public Library

Just steps from the hotel, Boston Public Library is a pioneer of public library service in America. It was the first large free municipal library in the United States, the first public library to lend books, the first to have a branch library, and the first to have a children’s room. As a City of Boston historic cultural institution, Boston Public Library today features a central library and twenty-five neighborhood branches, serving nearly 4 million visitors per year and millions more online.

Fenway Park

Since 1912, Fenway Park has been home to the Boston Red Sox. It is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball and one of the most well-known sports venues in the world. Because of its age and location in The Fenway, the park has been renovated or expanded many times, resulting in quirky features including: "The Triangle", Pesky's Pole, and the Green Monster in left field. The park has played host to the World Series ten times. Aside from baseball games, it has been the site of many other sporting and cultural events including professional football games, concerts, soccer and hockey games.

Boston Public Garden

Only a few minutes walk from the hotel, the Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in America, the Victorians ushered in the style of park which featured the gardener’s art. They designed vibrant floral patterns in the Garden which utilized new techniques of collecting, hybridizing, and propagating plants. Admire the rich and unusual plants, the Lagoon, the monuments, and the Swan Boats created and operated for over 100 years by the Paglet family. Boston calls the Public Garden one of its greatest attractions.

Boston Common

Founded in 1634, here the Colonial militia mustered for the Revolution. In 1768, the hated British Redcoats began an eight-year encampment. George Washington, John Adams and General Lafayette came here to celebrate our nation's independence. The 1860s saw Civil War recruitment and anti-slavery meetings. During World War I, victory gardens sprouted. For World War II, the Common gave most of its iron fencing away for scrape metal.

Boston Symphony Orchestra

The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881, realizing the dream of its founder, the Civil War veteran/businessman/philanthropist Henry Lee Higginson, who envisioned a great and permanent orchestra in his hometown of Boston. Today the BSO reaches millions of listeners through not only its concert performances in Boston and at Tanglewood, but also via the internet, radio, television, educational programs, recordings, and tours.
