The $91 million, 60,000-square foot[6] museum is dedicated to American Olympic and Paralympic athletes and their stories. After guests enter the museum and receive their entry passes, the museum path starts with an elevator ride to the top floor. From there, inspired by the Guggenheim Museum, a ramped path leads downward to the main floor through the museum galleries. There are no steps.[1] The museum is notably accessible (it is fully ADA compliant) and interactive, designed so guests of all abilities can see all the exhibitions and participate equally. Some of the technologies implemented include captions, descriptive audio tracks, ASL translations, assisted listening, RFID-enabled guest lanyards (e.g. text is automatically enlarged for visually-disabled visitors),[1] and accessible exhibition spaces and paths. Team USA athletes were involved and consulted throughout the project. Gallagher & Associates designed the museum's exhibitions. The USOPM was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with an eye toward creating a building in motion; an overhead view of the building resembles a discus thrower in mid-throw.[7] The exterior of the museum is composed of 9,000 unique diamond-shaped reflective aluminum panels, with no two panels exactly alike. It is located in the southwest part of downtown Colorado Springs, at the intersection of S. Sierra Madre Street and W. Vermijo Avenue. As of 2020, the chief executive officer of the museum is Christopher Liedel.

Garden of the Gods Park is a registered National Natural Landmark. Imagine dramatic views, 300' towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snow-capped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies. Located only 15 minutes down the road from Cheyenne Mountain Resort, the park is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Colorado Springs. The Garden comes alive with informative exhibits on the area's geology, ecology and cultural history. Hike, bike, rock climb, take photos and more at this spectacular natural wonder.

With a variety of options to get to the top, Pikes Peak is our favorite Colorado 14'er. You can hike, road bike, drive or take the cog train to the summit, which means nearly everyone in the group can enjoy America's Mountain! Once you make it to the top, be sure to take in the spectacular views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range to the West and the expansive, rolling plains to the East. Don't forgot to stop in the gift shop and sample one of their famous doughnuts too - the altitude makes them all the more fluffy and tastier!

The US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs is home to many athletes and coaches as they train for the next Olympic Games. In fact, the facility is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time! Public tours are available year-round and start with an inspirational 12-minute film and then a 45-minute outdoor walking tour of the training complex, including the weightlifting and wrestling facilities, the Aquatics Center and the Sport Center Gymnasiums. Visitors can then explore the US Olympic Hall of Fame Rotunda, shop at the Olympic Store and check out the ever-changing art exhibitions found throughout the center.

Located on the West side of Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City is a charming downtown area that is filled with local shops, tasty restaurants and an abundance of history. Enjoy seasonal events like the First Friday ArtWalk and the popular Old Colorado City Farmer's Market or attend one of their annual events like Territory Days.

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings are a rare historical treasure. Preserved under a protective red sandstone overhang, authentic Anasazi cliff dwellings over 800 years old await you here. You are encouraged to explore the dwellings room by room using a self-guided tour. These fascinating architectural remnants are from an American Indian culture that roamed the Four Corners area of the Southwest from 1200 B.C. to 1300 A.D. The Manitou Cliff Dwellings overlooks Manitou Springs, Colorado at the foot of Pikes Peak. Wander leisurely through the preserve and explore the fascinating architecture of the Anasazi. This park was first open to the public in 1907 and represents some of the finest architecture of the Anasazi Culture throughout Colorado and New Mexico.

The Royal Gorge is a canyon on the Arkansas River near Cañon City, Colorado and is often called the "Grand Canyon of the Arkansas." With a width of 40-50 feet at its base, a few hundred feet at its top, and a depth of 1,200 feet in places, the 10-mile-long canyon is a narrow, steep gorge. In 1929, Cañon City authorized the building of the Royal Gorge Bridge, which at 1,053 feet above the river, is one of the highest suspension bridges over water in the world. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is another spectacular way to travel through the Royal Gorge.

The Manitou Incline was originally built as a cable car to carry materials to build pipelines on Pikes Peak - America's Mountain. After the pipelines were finished, it was turned into a tourist attraction to bring guests to the top of the foothills for a spectacular view of Colorado Springs and the eastern plains. A rock slide damaged a section of track in 1990, so the Manitou Springs Incline was closed down. The rails were removed, but the railroad ties remained in the form of a massive staircase. Locals started using it for a challenging workout. Until February 2013, a portion of it was private property and it was illegal to hike up the ties of the old cable car line. Now, due to cooperations among private and public entities, it is legal to climb the Incline. It is known as one of, if not the most, popular and challenging, hikes in the Colorado Springs area.

No visit to the Pikes Peak region is complete without a trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo - America's only mountain zoo! Large alpine habitats are home to over 800 different animals and 200+ species. All of your favorites are here - monkeys, hippos, tigers, snow leopards and bears (oh my!). Hand-feed the largest reticulated giraffe herd of any zoo in North America, and experience animals of the Rocky Mountains up close, like you've never seen them before. See the animals, ride an antique carousel, eat a gourmet lunch at the Grizzly Grill, then ride the Mountaineer Sky Ride and soar to the Zoo's summit... That's just the start of your WILD adventure!

Seven Falls in Colorado Springs is a series of seven magnificent cascading waterfalls, reaching a total height of 181 feet. The falls are nestled in the back of a 1,250 foot tall box canyon and features a series of hiking trails at the top. Visitors can experience the waterfall up close and personal via 224 steps on the staircase from the base of the falls to the peak. Seven Falls is the only waterfall in Colorado to make National Geographic's list of international waterfalls. In the evening, the falls are beautifully illuminated.

Cave of the Winds, located in Colorado Springs, is a historic natural landmark filled with amazing formations just waiting to be discovered by you. This is one of the region's original attractions and is a great year-round choice for family fun and adventure. It has been open for public exploraiton since 1881 - more than 130 years! Cave of the winds offers two types of tours: Discovery and Lantern. The Discovery Tour is great for the entire family and lasts approximately 45 minutes. The Lantern Tour is available to guests age 6 and over, and is a more adventurous tour lasting 90 minutes.

Visit the AFA to see where young men and women are developed into leaders of character for our Air Force and nation. Enjoy the natural beauty of the Front Range as you take a self-guided tour of the campus. During your tour, be sure to visit the Barry Goldwater Visitor Center to learn about the cadet experience, pickup a souvenir at the Team Store and tour Colorado's number one man-made tourist attraction, the Cadet Chapel.
