It has over four kilometres of beaches and several natural parks and extensive forestland nearby. It is a large city with good public transport services and a nearby international airport, meaning that it is well communicated. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, an autonomous region in the northeast of Spain, with its own language, Catalan; although its people also speak Spanish and many of them speak some French or English. The official currency is the euro (€), which can be exchanged at banks and savings banks. Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate which gives it pleasant temperatures all year round. Barcelona has a huge variety of places to visit, and just a stroll, ride or drive around the bustling streets is a pleasure. There is always something to do and somewhere to visit in Barcelona. There are over 50 museums with works by Picasso, Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies, among many others. The National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) has one of the most important collections of Romanesque art. The city also puts on a whole host of music festivals and all kinds of cultural and sporting events all year round. The Barcelona Card offers unlimited travel on public transport with the added bonus of including discounts at theatres, leisure facilities and restaurants. The Barcelona Bus Turistic operates on two routes, which will take you to all the city’s landmark sites. Barcelona is a wonderful city for shopping! You will find modern and classic shops, world brands, leading names from the world of design, in short, something for everyone, whether at large stores, exclusive boutiques or enchanting markets. Your sightseeing can happily include window-shopping! Catalan gastronomy is one of its main attractions. Barcelona offers a wealth of different gastronomic specialities with great variety, excellent quality and good value for money all with the added benefit of being made using healthy, Mediterranean ingredients. Yes, Hilton is committed to reducing waste across our portfolio. All of our hotels were required to remove plastic straws, stir sticks and cocktail picks in 2019, and we are currently transitioning from individual bath toiletries to full-size dispensers.
