Flint
This gritty, blue-collar city 70 miles northwest of Detroit was made famous in 1989 by documentary filmmaker Michael Moore ("Roger & Me"). Since then, much has been done; now, many of the city's finer building have been redeveloped and renovated, and Flint event venues are rising to the challenges of a post-GM economy. Bishop International Airport (FNT) has domestic service via AirTran, American, Delta and United. It has no international service. There is no purpose-built convention center but hotel venues in Flint with meeting space include the 171-room Holiday Inn Gateway Centre, which has 15,300 square feet of meeting space. Planners can also choose between the 119-room Holiday Inn Express Flint-Campus Area, which has 780 square feet of meeting space but is next door to the Flint Cultural Center; the 100-room Hampton Inn and Suites Flint/Grand Blanc, which has 1,275 square feet of meeting space; the 99-room Courtyard by Marriott Flint, which has 624 square feet of meeting space; and the 80-room Fairfield Inn & Suites Flint-Fenton, which has 920 square feet of meeting space.
