Twenty miles northwest of downtown Detroit, Birmingham has a population of approximately 20,000, which is large enough to have its own symphony orchestra. Birmingham event venues enjoy synergy with Rochester Hills and Troy, as well as other suburbs within the metro Detroit area. The airport serving Birmingham, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), has service to all over Canada and the U.S., as well as several major transportation hubs in Europe, including Amsterdam, London, and Paris. While there is no stand-alone meetings venue in Birmingham, immediately to the south in Troy is the Management Education Center, which has five meeting rooms, a 110-seat amphitheater, a 400-seat auditorium and a 312-seat dining room, among other spaces, while those seeking much larger space need to go to Detroit's Cobo Center, which has 100 meeting rooms, 2.4 million square feet of event space, eight exhibition halls and theater, banqueting and reception space all for up to 4,350 persons.
