Oxnard
The largest city in Ventura County, Oxnard is an affluent city 40 miles southeast of Santa Barbara and 65 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Named after its founder Henry T. Oxnard, the city was incorporated in 1903 by a businessman who built a nearby sugar mill for his American Crystal Sugar Company. Agriculture remains a dominant part of its economy, and some Oxnard event venues reflect the town's "fruitful" heritage. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), approximately 60 miles northwest of Oxnard is the closest commercial hub. Driving from LAX can take up to two hours, depending on the route and the hour of the day. Chief among meeting venues, Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center has room for events of up to 4,000 persons, an auditorium with stage that hosts musical and theater events and has 1,604 seats, two banquet rooms, five meeting rooms, and a network of enclosed patios for functions.
