Podgorica
At the confluence of the Moraca and Ribnica rivers, Podgorica is the capital of the relatively new country of Montenegro (independence came only in 2005), as well as its major cultural, government and economic hub. It is an emerging destination, and meeting venues in Podgorica are in the process of playing catch-up with its new-found status. Podgorica International Airport (TGD; after its former name, Titograd) has no direct links with North America but does serve several key European cities such as London Paris, Rome and Vienna. It is very close to the center of the city, no more than seven miles. There are no dedicated convention venues in Podgorica; the city's hotels remain the best bet for meetings.
