Broome
On the Indian Ocean, far away from any other Australian city, Broome sits tucked on the mainland side of a promontory sticking out into Roebuck Bay. Its population of 15,000 grows to three times that size during the area's tourist season between July and October. Being the very far side of Australia from most of the large Australian cities, its population has been a mix of nationalities, professions, dreamers, miners and those looking for oyster pearls. It also is a very important wildlife corridor, and at some Broome MICE venues, nature can be at its wildest and most exhilarating.
No more than half a mile west of the center of Broome is Broome International Airport (BME), which has service to Perth and Darwin, of the major Australian cities, all year and also to Melbourne and Sydney in its summer.
